These educators were in search of new dimensions in business and information technology.

So what did they find? On Monday they found that team assignments would be the best way to provide a huge amount of information in a short period of time, so groups were assigned to research current trends in technology education. Arlene Broeker, a guest speaker from DESE, came to give updates from the Business Education Department, and Mary Lou Michler, a sales representative from Glencoe, came to exhibit new technology instructional materials. Every educator, in attendance, was given an interactive lesson planner CD to take home with them. After lunch the class got in their cars and traveled to the Junior Achievement Building, in the Chesterfield Valley, to tour their new facility and to see the many technological opportunities that they have to offer students.

Tuesday was spent at Forest Park Community College where Dorrine Berjains conducted a hands on workshop on, Outlook Software Application and Teaching Strategies. The class was also able to look in on classes being taught in other technology labs at the college.

On Wednesday and Thursday Janet Barnes, an educator in the Hazelwood School District, gave the class a chance to learn about desktop publishing with hands on activities using two software programs. The class was also able to visit the Mobile Tech Lab both days as court reporting and wireless networking were the career topics that gave them more hands on activities. Wednesday morning was set-aside for the teachers to share their best practices with each other, and educators know how valuable this experience can be.

Friday's activities included group presentations, on which my group talked about 'Blogging', and a Gateway Computers Presentation with PC Tablet Technologies and Smart Board information. At the beginning of this blog I said that this workshop was packed with information, learning activities, and guess speakers and Dr. Ruth Schafer, as always, did an excellent job planning and organizing it all. Wow!
